Privacy Policy
Effective August 25, 2026 · My Legal Works, LLC
What This Covers
This policy describes how My Legal Works, LLC ("My Legal Works," "we," "us") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information through this website and in the course of engagements. It is posted to satisfy the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA), which applies to commercial websites that collect personal information from California residents.
The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the "CCPA"), imposes obligations on businesses that meet statutory thresholds, such as annual gross revenue above an inflation adjusted figure of approximately $26.6 million or handling the personal information of 100,000 or more California residents each year. My Legal Works does not currently meet any of those thresholds. We nonetheless honor the CCPA style rights described below for everyone, as a matter of policy. If we ever meet a threshold, this policy will be updated to reflect our statutory obligations.
Categories of Personal Information We Collect
Identifiers and contact details. Name, email address, phone number, and company, when you submit them through the contact form or contact us directly.
Professional information. Your role, your company, and the matter you describe to us when scoping or running an engagement.
Commercial information. Records of the services you inquired about or engaged us for, and related correspondence.
Internet activity. Basic technical logs that a web server necessarily records, such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested.
We do not collect biometric information, precise geolocation, or protected classification data. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and this website is not directed to children.
Sources
We collect personal information directly from you through forms, email, phone, and meetings; from your company in the course of an engagement; and automatically through ordinary server logs when you visit the site.
How We Use Personal Information
We use personal information to respond to inquiries; to scope, run, document, and complete engagements; to send the status reports and trackers you have requested; to maintain business records; to secure and operate this website; to comply with legal obligations; and to establish or defend legal claims. We do not use personal information for profiling, automated decision making, or targeted advertising.
Third Parties We Disclose To
We disclose personal information only to the following categories of recipients: service providers that operate the business for us, such as website hosting, email, and document storage providers, which may use the information only to provide their services to us; licensed professionals scoped into your engagement and named in the engagement charter; government authorities, courts, or parties when required by law, subpoena, or court order; and a successor entity if the business is ever sold or reorganized, subject to this policy.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
Cookies, Tracking, and Do Not Track
This website sets no advertising cookies and no analytics cookies, and it contains no third party tracking pixels. If your browser stores anything, it is limited to what is strictly necessary for the site to function, and you can clear or block that storage in your browser settings without losing access to the site. Because we do not track visitors over time or across other websites, this site does not respond to browser Do Not Track signals, and no third parties collect personally identifiable information about your online activities over time and across different websites through this site. This disclosure is made under CalOPPA.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for. Inquiry correspondence is kept until the inquiry is resolved and for a reasonable period afterward. Engagement records are kept for the period stated in the engagement charter and as required for legal, tax, and recordkeeping obligations. Server logs are kept for a short rolling window. When information is no longer needed, it is deleted or de-identified.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to a practice of our size: access limited to the two owners and to professionals scoped into an engagement, password protected accounts, and encrypted transmission where available. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. California law also requires businesses to maintain reasonable security procedures, and we treat that as our floor, not our ceiling.
Your Privacy Rights
Whether or not a statute compels it, we honor the following for anyone whose personal information we hold. You may request to know and access the personal information we hold about you, including the categories collected, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of recipients. You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information. You may request that we delete personal information, subject to recognized exceptions such as completing an engagement you requested, security, and legal compliance. You may request a copy of your information in a portable, usable format. We will never deny services, charge differently, or vary quality because you exercised a privacy right.
Rights to opt out of sale or sharing, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information, are not applicable here, because we do not sell or share personal information and we do not use sensitive personal information beyond what is necessary to provide the services.
How to Exercise Your Rights
Email either contact below with "Privacy Request" in the subject line, or write to the address below, and tell us which right you are exercising. We will verify your identity by matching the information in your request against what we hold, typically your name and email address. We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you why and respond within 90 days of your request. You may use an authorized agent; we will ask for proof of the agent's authority and will still verify your identity. This is also the process for reviewing and requesting changes to your information under CalOPPA.
Other Jurisdictions
If you contact us from outside California, we apply the same practices described here. Where your local law grants you additional rights that apply to us, we will honor them.

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. If a change is material, we will post a notice at the top of this page for 30 days describing the change. This is our process for notifying you of material changes under CalOPPA.
